Vacheron Constantin 1921

In the early days of automobiles, drivers in America needed a watch they could easily read without taking their hands off the wheel.

Wristwatches were becoming increasingly popular, but many early models were adaptations of pocket watches. Additionally, the 1920s were heavily influenced by the Art Deco movement, which emphasized geometric shapes, bold colors, and a sense of modernity.

Vacheron Constantin aimed to create a wristwatch with a design specifically suited for the wrist. The 1921's unique cushion-shaped case with a tilted dial reflected this artistic spirit. Their elegantly designed watch easily allowed drivers to check the time with a quick glance.  The clever design was a perfect solution for a new era of transportation. 100+ years later, the modern interpretation of the 1921 is just as stunning, proving great design endures.
